1.  What is coaching?

Coaching is a relatively new profession, the evolution of which is most often credited to a terrific coach and the founder of a coach Coach University, Thomas Leonard. Coaches:

Help people set better goals and then reach and surpass them.
Ask their clients to do more than they would have done on their own.
Help their clients focus on what matters most to produce better
   results in less time.
Provide clients with the tools, support and structure to accomplish
   more.
Creates synergistic, win-win solutions.

2.  How is coaching different from consulting or therapy or even a best friend?

Coaching is comparable to consulting except that the coach stay focused on the clients agenda, not his/her own, and stays with the client as long as the client sees the value-add he/she is receiving in implementing the new skills, changes and goals.

Coaching is NOT therapy. Coaches don’t focus on understanding past behavior or emotional stress of the client. If therapy is what client needs, we will ask that they deal with those issues with trained therapists before beginning the coaching relationship. Once those issues are addressed , coaching will help create quantum leaps in performance. The coaching partnership is future-bound without the restraints of history.

Best friend. A best friend is wonderful to have. Your coach will challenge you in areas of expertise your best friend may not have, and may challenge you in ways your friends won’t. Give yourself a gift a best friend AND coach.

Coaching works for several reasons:

Synergy between the coach and clients create momentum.
Better goals Are set – ones that naturally pulls the client toward the

The client develops new skills, and these skills translate into more
    success.
  It’s FUN!
